And her business isn't done. It's just on a... really long hiatus until she can get back. Ilyse is no stranger to the existence of magic, but she is willing to test and research the fabric of the world in order to understand its magical nature through a scientific perspective. At least she arrived here with her kukuri mount, Firnen, and Aluinn and all his kukuris had arrived too, so she wasn't alone. That she had to be thankful for. Now if only Ilyse could avoid all the consequences of testing black magic with her limited knowledge long enough to achieve the opportunity to go back to her home world with Aluinn and their kukuris, she would be able to lead her rebel army once more and continue in their conquest of the empire. [attr="class","rcappleft2"] [attr="class","rcappleft3"] [attr="class","rcappleft4"] [attr="class","rcapplefttitle"]CHARACTER ABILITIES [attr="class","rcappleft51"] A GIANT BOOK NERDSince she was young, no more than five years old, Ilyse had been educated and trained by top notch instructors, preparing her to become a person who would govern over the entire kingdom her father currently ruled. Ilyse attacked her studies enthusiastically, having a natural affinity for learning due to her curiosity about the nature of the world, and happened to strike up an interest in magic. From then on in secret, she would borrow magic and sorcery tomes from the kingdom's library and study them in her room, occasionally practicing what she learned until she could do a few tricks like summoning small elemental strikes, minimal healing, and other simple spells. She also attained a basic knowledge in herbalism, alchemy, witchcraft, and even astronomy just thanks to curiosity alone, but isn't foolish enough to try any witchcraft, nor capable of alchemy. I CAN AT LEAST WAVE A SWORD AROUNDWhen she met the kitsune shape-shifter, Shizuka, she began learning how to wield a sword properly in combat from her new ally, a skill she had been forbidden from being trained in at the castle, being a female and thusly considered "unfit" to become a knight, but she quickly caught on and became rather capable with a rapier, and excelled in mounted combat with her kukuri, Firnen. When in battle, her prowess with the blade exceeds most common foot soldiers' abilities. From the very start, she was the most pampered human being in the country, even more so than her father. While her mother was a mere nameless concubine whom she never got to see, but later heard had passed away from illness, her father headed the entire government with an iron fist, unbeknownst to her at such a young age.[break][break] From a very young age, she was educated in the different elementary subjects that would groom her into a wise and powerful queen, but Ilyse had a natural curiosity which led her to learn basic knowledge in other, "less useful" subjects such as astronomy, sorcery, herbalism and even witchcraft. She kept these studies a secret from her father and teachers, knowing they were frowned upon since she was a lady and highly expected to never become a magician or take on any specialized career that the lesser classes were hired for. She was also prevented from learning any combat skills whatsoever because it was thought to be absurd for a lady, much less a princess to become a knight.[break][break] When she turned ten years old, for her birthday, she had begged for and received her very own kukuri egg. Her father thought it would keep her company, become her very own pet, and perhaps even her guardian from any assassins that attacked the castle and aimed for Ilyse. Right before her, the kukuri egg hatched into a rare smoked jade male kukuri pup which Ilyse named Firnen. She then proceeded to raise him in her room until he was too big to fit on her bed, though she let him sleep with her anyway, much to the maids' panic every morning when they saw a huge green furry dragon curled up around the princess in her bed like a colossal puppy dog.[break][break] Ilyse began to grow up and learn more advanced subjects, such as government, economy, history and sociology, but at this point, some people around her began discovering her small hoards of books in magic and such, and they were confiscated via her father's order. This sparked the first rebellious tone in her attitude towards her passive, distant father who had never really payed any attention to her nor spend any time with her except to bark orders at her educators and caretakers to give her a proper education and raise her into his successor. At the same time, Ilyse became more and more aware of her father's methods of ruling his country. Yet questioning his decisions even a little bit met her with severe repercussions and attempts by the "elites" to train her until her mind was changed, which were unsuccessful. However, Ilyse soon learned that she could not easily question her father's rulership out loud.[break][break] Instead, the young teenage girl would eventually learn all of the truth from the bravest citizens in the outskirts of the capitol city whenever she snuck out to do some research on her own, using a few simple magic spells to trick her guardians at night. She soon befriended a few townsfolk and learned from the king's own subjects of what it was like being ruled by her father and his loyal government. It was nothing short of tyranny. He heavily taxed his subjects outside of the immediate capitol into poverty, and even more harshly taxed any citizens who managed to acquire a stable job and lifestyle until they too were forced into poverty. Anyone who began to prosper and dream of working hard to give his or her future family a happy life was immediately taxed back into bankruptcy. Small businesses never lasted more than a second, and these so-called "taxes for the greater good" always went towards the lower class only within loud minorities who enthusiastically supported the government's policies and the king's rule, yet mysteriously could never ascend from the lower class themselves as they never had to work for profit.[break][break] Thanks to all this and other aspects of the horribly corrupt, cult-like government, the economy was in a never-ending state of collapse, citizens who worked hard payed everything they owned and earned to help supporters of the king never work at all in order to prosper minimally, and foreign countries quietly observed Ilyse's father's kingdom decline while happily taking hand-outs in order to preserve the peace. Meanwhile, the working class was being worked and taxed to death, much to Ilyse's horror. However, vocally opposing her father's politics was easily a regrettably act. Ilyse soon felt like she was surrounded by enemies (except for Firnen of course) intent on devouring her for her beliefs if not for her disguise of loyalty to the king. Yet the core principles of kingship taught to her as a young child also held strong, and she happened to be one of the most daring souls in the city.[break][break] I WILL SAVE THIS COUNTRY.There was no way through to her father or his government, and especially not with all the lack of power or influence she possessed in her situation. So Ilyse made the most courageous decision she had ever made in her life: she would quit her life as a princess, escape this corrupt capitol, and eventually somehow change this government from the outside as an opposing force.[break][break] Perhaps thanks entirely to her partner in crime, Firnen, she managed it, throwing the whole kingdom's highest officials into a wild frenzy to chase down the king's runaway daughter. Without basic luxuries like shelter or even food, Ilyse and Firnen ran from their pursuers for a few days. When the king's most trusted horsemen failed to capture her before she made her escape and vanished into the unknown parts of the wilderness, it was kept a very strict secret that the king's own daughter had run away of her own volition out of spite for her father's rule to avoid the seeds of rebellion from others who might gain the courage to follow suit. Instead, Ilyse was declared either assassinated by the commoners who disagreed with the king's politics, or at least kidnapped by them, and the rest of the country was promised a large reward for finding her, dead or alive.[break][break] For the next couple years with Firnen at her side, Ilyse survived while hiding from the government in small, distant towns. Luckily for her, hardly anyone outside of the castle knew her face, so it was easy to get around unnoticed as long as she avoided major cities and stayed on the move before she became a well-known person in each place. It wasn't long before she met and befriended an archer named Aluinn and a kitsune girl named Shizuka, and they soon joined and supported her cause while continuing to live their lives. Shizuka taught Ilyse how to fight with a sword, and Firnen got to know a few of Aluinn's many kukuris. The three became very close friends and shared ideals of a better world where true justice and prosperity for all reigned.[break][break] While it was never a true goal of hers to become the nation's "king" after dethroning her father, Ilyse always sort of knew and ignored the knowledge at the back of her mind that she would likely be expected to take up the rulership should she achieve her goal after starting a rebellion and toppling the government. Ilyse worked hard and, still keeping it all hidden from the government, gradually gathered supporters from the countryside who were willing to form a small army with her as its general mounted upon a giant armored jade kukuri. At this point, the king no longer cared that his daughter was missing and had dropped the search, never imagining that she would come up as an issue again.[break][break] Even when Ilyse's small army began clashing a few times with the kingdom's lesser battalions who were stationed on the outskirts of the country and served only to maintain some order and discipline while providing minimal defense to the citizens against potential foreign invaders, the king hardly batted an eye. Small rebellions weren't too uncommon, and Ilyse's father always assumed they would be squashed quickly. But Ilyse's troops increased in size and were, to their opponents' bewilderment, winning battles. Yet once word reached the castle of a small rebel army beating up on a few of the kingdom's smaller armies, the tyrannical leader still refused to take them seriously, merely believing that his own weakest troops had gotten lazy while his supporters spread rumors that the military was not deserving of so high a salary. It was sort of a blessing to Ilyse since she was unlikely to be able to face the entire force of the king's main army just yet, but also a sign that this war would be difficult enough even to start, and she wanted to provoke her enemy to fight before attacking the main capitol right away and battling on their home turf. Also, Ilyse personally didn't want to go back to the castle yet.[break][break] Yet still everything was proceeding at an acceptable pace, and the future seemed promising, though full of more hardships to come. And before she knew it, Ilyse found herself and Firnen on Tomodachi Island...[break][break] I'LL RETURN SOMEDAY, SOMEHOW...Aluinn and all his kukuris were here too, and Ilyse found it easy to settle into a life on the island along with everyone else. After all, she and everyone else were trapped here for what one could only conclude as forever. Never once however would she forget her duty, to one day, through whatever means possible, make her way back to her home world and complete her life mission. The thought of giving up and accepting her new life and destiny was not an option, and she knew Aluinn felt the same. Yet meanwhile, Ilyse found herself making an odd living as a spirit exorciser for those who knew less about the odd subject of witchcraft and summoning malevolent entities than what she had randomly learned in her childhood just for fun.[break][break] Ilyse is noticeably more socially energetic and passionate than her close friend, Aluinn, and she is easily classified by her powerful ambitions from her past life which she isn't afraid to tell others who are curious. She is very enthusiastic about learning and experiencing new things, a book nerd as she has always been her entire life, and is naturally a strong leader full of justice, morals and ideals about how a government should be (although she has found no problem with the casual environment on Tomodachi Island). She is obviously a "chaotic good" person, and doesn't hide any of it. Having grown up and raised to be a person of royalty, Ilyse has a strong habit of speaking with extra sophisticated words and sentence structure, but tries her best to avoid it and learn to speak more casually and with simpler grammar to other people.[break][break] Ilyse is a surprisingly small person, standing at only 5'3" and weighing in at a tiny 100 lbs, but makes up for it with her speed, dexterity, athleticism, and skills with a lightweight rapier sword. She has long raven blue-black hair tied back in pigtails and crystal-blue eyes, a slender and thin build, and she wears lightweight, dark attire and minimal armor, a pair of tall leather boots, and a dark gray cloak. She unintentionally stands and moves with the elegance of a queen, but her aura is that of a warrior fighting for justice.
